What I Have To Say About Sports And Other Stuff
About The Author
I am a sportswriter. I love watching sports and talking about them.
I love how so many of the world’s problems can be alleviated, created, influenced, changed by sports. I have seen this through my journey in South Africa at the World Cup. I learned in watching emotions rise and fall with St. Paul’s School for Girls soccer team. I learned through watching the Georgetown Hoyas compete in the Big East. It is through paying witness to these life-changing experiences and being able to document them firsthand that I have truly found my dream job in writing.
I mostly enjoy watching football and basketball and writing about basketball and soccer. I cover Georgetown’s basketball team for the Washington Post Express. I covered various high school sports for multiple Patch.com sites, and I cover almost anything for Pressbox. In this space, I will do game stories for the Hoyas, book reviews and other assorted topics that happen to pop into my thought process.
I graduated from Towson University in 2009 with a bachelor’s in Mass Communications and received my master’s in journalism at Georgetown in summer 2011. My internship with PressBox, a sports media company in Baltimore, turned into a job, where I served as the editorial assistant for the company’s print paper and Web site as well as producer of their TV show, Inside PressBox for two years.
After leaving PressBox to become the assistant race director for the event management division of Baltimore-based Charm City Run, I have been freelancing for various publications and entertaining you at this site. I now still work with Charm City Run on weekends and love it, but spend my Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Greater Baltimore Committee, where I am learning a ton of new things while also bringing my own expertise as the online communications editor.
In my “free time,” I am the executive director for the Sports Boosters of Maryland, a nonprofit organization helping kids in sports. I keep track of all their membership, developed all of their literature, am responsible for their Web site and social media marketing as well as in the assist of planning and executing monthly events and board meetings. I also am on the planning committee of a Mardi Gras event in March 2012 to benefit the Polakoff Foundation and Blind Industry Services of Maryland.
